We started with a party of 10. Then 14. Then 12. And we ended up with eleven. Even though we didn't ask for it, we were given a private room, which made our pre-show family gathering even more special. Our service was fantastic, the food delicious as usual, and they got us out of there with plenty of time to make the show at the Segerstrom across the street. Our waitstaff and the manager were all accommodating and happy for us to be there. We will be back... two of us in a couple of days!!! P.S. the show, starring our cousin / grandson was spectacular!!!
Came here for OCRW in a quiet sunny day. For $15 you got an small plate and a dessert. This restaurant takes good care of you: the hostess is kind, food is presented with care, and they even validate your parking. Sadly the service was subpar, that of a casual cafe. I really expected way more, my server even had a slight attitude and didn't follow up on what she said she would. I hope the owner/management works on better service. The lychee Panna cottage was to die for!! Absolutely exquisite :).
This is a classy hotel lounge that offers live music and and a decent bar and food menu. I ordered two glasses of their house cab and the flatbread pizza with the raw veggie plate. Everything tasted just fine. I really enjoyed the live music. It added to the ambience. It made me feel relaxed and I was glad to be there. I will be trying their restaurant at some point. I was 100% sure of the dress code, so I dressed in business casual. However, I noticed that there were a decent amount of people in casual clothing, which made me happy, so if I ever were to return to this lounge, I could dress a little bit more comfortably. The service was good. My server was really adorable and appropriately chatty. She checked on me and made sure that I was taken care of. So, I appreciated that. I look forward to coming here again.
While staying at the hotel we had breakfast twice at the Silver Trumpet. While service was extremely slow, the staff was friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed the lobster omelette on Sunday, so I ordered it again on Monday and was disappointed. Probably a different chef. Our friends had versions of Eggs Benedicts and the first time out the eggs were overcooked, second try was perfection. Ambiance was nice. Beautiful decor. The bar on Saturday had live music and the food was spectacular along with the service. James and his staff made great recommendations and the drinks were creative and delicious. We enjoyed the seafood appetizers which included calamari and shrimp and the steak flatbread.
Appreciate being seated quickly even without a reservation. We were going to see Hadestown so only had a limited amount of time--- we let them know it and they delivered on the efficiency. Lamb lollipops-- perfectly cooked, delicious lamby flavor but could do with a touch more salt. Truffle risotto -- well cooked, perfect creamy/al dente texture but under-salted and lacking a punchy truffle flavor. So- in other words - bland. Fries - creamy inside, crisp outside and flawlessly seasoned. The star of our small eats spread -- the focaccia bread with whipped butter- this was so light and airy, and well seasoned- I could have eaten this alone and made a meal out of it. It was absolutely delicious.
Silver Trumpet at The Avenue of the Arts, Costa Mesa Hotel - where ambiance meets elegance, and our taste buds were primed for a fabulous birthday weekend celebration. Here's the scoop: LIBATIONS The Classics - Tried the Sunrise Margarita, Fig Fashioned, and Seasonal Berry Lemon Drop. Verdict? 4.5 stars. The margarita had a bit more sweetness than sour, but let's be real: it was lip-smacking good! So good, in fact, that I had to indulge in a second round. Mule Mondays - Hubby gave it a 3, but let's just say mules aren't exactly his jam. I tried a sip and rated it a solid 4. With options like premium American, London, Kentucky, Latin, or Islander, there's a little something for everyone. This mule will be making a return visit to my taste buds next time. OPENING ACTS (Appetizers) Seafood Fritto - Calamari, shrimp, sweet peppers, fries zucchini, and chipotle aioli, fried to perfection. It's a YES for me. 5 stars for this crispy, seafood bliss that had me wishing it was the main act. Highly recommend if you're a seafood lover looking to treat your senses. Overall Experience A chic, luxurious spot to celebrate a birthday weekend in style and sexy love music! From the delightful cocktails to that irresistible Seafood Fritto, Silver Trumpet hit all the right notes for us. Average Rating? 4.5 stars, and I'll gladly raise a glass to that!
We lucked upon this restaurant thanks to Yelp! We had tickets to a performance at the Segerstrom and needed a place nearby to grab dinner beforehand. Of course I jumped on Yelp and quickly found this restaurant. Luckily they had a table available so we jumped on it knowing we would only have an hour or so to dine before the show. Upon arrival we were offered indoor or outdoor seating. It was a beautiful evening so we chose outdoors. There was a wedding reception happening nearby but they were did not disturb our meal. Our server, Michelle, was exceptional. From the moment she approached to the moment we left, she went over the top to ensure we had a great dining experience while making sure we made it to the performance on time. Her recommendations were spot on! We started with cocktails. The featured cocktail was called the Hot Flash, a nod to the production at the theater across the street. They used a house made cherry syrup to create a cross between an Old Fashioned and a Whiskey Sour and it did not disappoint. Since we were looking for a meal on the lighter side, she suggested a couple of starters and one entree that we would split. We were torn between rack of lamb or hangar steak as our entree so she talked us into the lamb lollipops as a starter and hangar steak as the entree with a lovely salad in between. Our lamb was cooked perfectly and the individual chops had the perfect mix of seasoning and char from the grill. Our salad consisted of greens with red & golden beets, grapes and goat cheese in a light vinaigrette. The hangar steak arrived just as we finished our salads along with a couple of glasses of Abstract, a red wine blend she highly recommended. The steak is one of their specialties and I can see why. It's was nicely seasoned with a great char flavor and served with baby potatoes and baby zucchini. Two thumbs up! And being that we had a few extra minutes, we indulged in an affogato for dessert. Again, what a wonderful find thanks to Yelp! And we found out that we could have had complimentary parking for both dinner and the theater!! If only we'd known....so we will keep that in mind for our next visit....and there will definitely be another!
